Bedrijvenwerf de Wieken is a building for small independent entrepreneurs in the craft and creative production sector. The use of the clustering of the small businesses is a synergy between entrepreneurs. In addition to room for collaboration between these companies, the location will distinguish itself with shared services and support functions. The nature of production companies also requires enough space to work outside; the yard space. The location is situated at the Hoevelaken junction on the A28 and A1 near Amersfoort and is also on a regional cycling route that connects Amersfoort with the surrounding area.
The location is provided with a communal roof. This creates enough covered construction site space and the business spaces below can be realized with simple means. The roof lets in enough working light (north) and also captures the south light for the generation of electrical energy with photovoltaic panels. The spatial set-up communicates a powerful and joint image of the highway that presents itself with sustainability. The grid provides a construction system with large spans. Business space and construction site space can thus be organized within a cohesive and flexible system.
